Knitting Ministry -

Prayer Shawl Knitting Group

 

The First Presbyterian Prayer Shawl knitting group first gathered in February 2010.  It meets weekly on Wednesday nights from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.  All are welcome; you do not have to be a member or attendee of the church.

 In two and a half years 51 shawls were knitted and distributed to shut-ins, nursing home residents, children at St. Jude’s, new mothers and babies, brides, and persons who were in need of support.

 After each shawl is completed, it is blessed in a formal ceremony with the knitter and all who have gathered.

 

 Basket of yarn

 Instructions are:  Knitting Needle size 11 or 13 or Crochet hook size M, or N, or P.  The completed size is 57 inches or 58 inches in any pattern.
